Concrete Level 1
OBJECTIVE
To provide participants with basic knowledge and skills to work in the concrete industry. Level 1 is based primarily on the basics of concreting and pouring of small slabs.
PREREQUISITES
Key attributes for people entering this field are stamina, spatial perception and hand-eye coordination. Attention to detail and Grade 10 math are a necessity. Some physical activities of this field include heavy lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and reaching. Participants will be expected to supply their own hard hats, hi-viz vests, safety boots and rubber boots.

- Setup, assemble, maintain and disassemble formwork
- Properly set edge forms to the proper grade
- Mix concrete
- Transport concrete on site
- Properly place concrete
- Properly assist with concrete finishing
- How to control the concrete curing process
LENGTH OF COURSE
40 hours (5 days).
Concrete Level 2
OBJECTIVE
Level 2 expands on the basic concepts learned in Level 1 and focuses on the pouring of concrete walls.
PREREQUISITES
