Confined Space Entry Monitor

OBJECTIVES
This course is geared towards our members who tend to work in the industrial sector or those that do Confined Space Entry Monitoring as a part of their job description.

The Confined Space Entry Monitor is the first person to test the atmosphere inside the space with a probe or monitor – THEY DO NOT ENTER THE SPACE.

PREREQUISITES
Ability to speak and understand English and communicate over a 2-way radio.

  • Properly identify confined spaces
  • Responsibilities of a Confined Space Entry program
  • Hazard assessments
  • Written safe work procedures
  • Proper testing of the atmosphere
  • How to make atmosphere safe
  • Standby person’s duties
  • Confined space entry permits

LENGTH OF COURSE
8 hours (1 day).

Confined Space Awareness

OBJECTIVES
This course is geared towards our members who tend to work in the civil/roadbuilding sector.

In this course the worker ENTERS the space after the monitor has tested the atmosphere in the space.

PREREQUISITES
Ability to speak and understand English and communicate over a 2-way radio.

TOPICS COVERED

  • Learn the legal definition of Confined Spaces
  • Factors that lead to injuries/death when entering confined spaces
  • Basics of atmosphere testing
  • Ventilation and rescue techniques
  • Awareness of the potential hazards to look for and note if they are low, moderate or high

LENGTH OF COURSE
4 hours (1/2 day).
